Biophilic Showroom

Climate change is increasing the need to reconsider the materials used in residential and commercial construction and renovation, creating an opportunity to explore more sustainable choices without compromising beauty or experience. This project proposes an Interface Carpet Tile showroom in South Brisbane that communicates sustainable material through the beauty of the natural environment. Site analysis, Interface research and investigation into the Lockyer Valley landscape informed a biophilic spatial journey, with the creek, hills, vegetation, light and colour translated through material studies, spatial planning and 3D modelling. Carpet tile variations form a central creek pathway, supported by planting, airflow, lighting and hanging installations. A key challenge was balancing the immersive natural experience with practical product display, exploring how more sustainable materials can contribute to beautiful and engaging commercial interiors.
